YOUTH INITIATIVE RESTRUCTURING

Due to financial restructuring of our youth initiative, the full time
position of head of youth development has been made redundant.
Les Gray, vice chairman and the Director of Youth
Development, who has been responsible for the setting up of the Youth
Initiative, will have a much more hands on role until the restructuring is
complete.
The club would like to thank John Bean (above)
for his effort and commitment over the last 4 seasons, during
which time he has made a valuable contribution and we wish him well in the
future.

15 YEAR OLD JAMES McCARTHY MAKES 1st TEAM DEBUT
Young James McCarthy made his Accies
1st team debut in the 1-1 draw with Queen of the South on Saturday 30th
September 2006 at New Douglas Park. James, at the tender age of 15
years became the youngest Accies Youth Player to turn out for the
1st team in a competitive match, again proving that Accies will always
give youth a chance.
Quote from:
"Young James was remarkably wearing a shirt
with his age on it; he's just 15. As it turned out, he gave a performance
that belied his tender years and was not afraid to put in some solid
tackles. He also showed that he has a good football brain and played some
neat passes too."
Well done James, this gives encouragement to every youth player at the
club who will want to follow in your footsteps.

UNDER 16's JOIN INITIATIVE LEAGUE
Whilst our large
under 17's squad (which is a dual age band, covering under 16's and under
17's) will continue to compete in the Performance League, our under 16's
(players in their 1st year at under 17's) will now compete in the
Initiative League, taking the place of Berwick Rangers who withdrew last
week. We will play Arbroath, Raith Rovers, Queen's Park and one or two
others, where dates and fixtures allow. This will enable all our players
at this level to get 'competitive' games.
